“She can’t claim to be supportive of these communities while trying to increase the number of people coming in who want to oppress them."From: NewNowNext
Donald Trump is now using this weekend’s tragic massacre in Orlando as an opportunity to attract more voters, claiming that he is better for LGBT Americans than Hillary Clinton.
The presumptive Republican nominee accused Clinton of wanting to allow people into the U.S. “who reject our values” on issues like women’s rights and gay rights, saying Sunday’s mass shooting is a sign that we need immigration bans on countries with ties to Islamic extremism in order to protect LGBT people.
“Hillary Clinton can never claim to be a friend of the gay community as long as she continues to support immigration policies that bring Islamic extremists to our country who suppress women, gays and anyone who doesn’t share their views,” Trump said. “She can’t claim to be supportive of these communities while trying to increase the number of people coming in who want to oppress them.”
“Ask yourself, who is really the friend of women and the LGBT community: Donald Trump with his actions, or Hillary Clinton with her words?” he continued. “Clinton wants to allow radical Islamic terrorists to pour into our country — they enslave women and murder gays. I don’t want them in our country.”
Orlando gunman Omar Mateen was a U.S. citizen, who reportedly called 911 to pledge his allegiance to ISIS before his rampage, but was not a foreigner who’d have even been affected by Trump’s immigration restrictions.
A recent survey has found that LGBT voters support Clinton 84%-16% over Trump, who has previously declared that he is opposed to marriage equality.
After news broke of the Orlando tragedy on Sunday, Trump took the opportunity to attack the president and accept praise for his opinions on Muslims.
