The New Bill Cosby Show is an American variety television series aired in the United States by CBS as part of its 1972-73 lineup.

The New Bill Cosby Show was an attempt to exploit the widespread popularity of Bill Cosby, who had previously starred in an eponymous sitcom and the drama (with comedic undertones) I Spy and who had been responsible for several of the best-selling comedy albums of the 1960s. Cosby's supporting cast was biracial, highlighted by Foster Brooks of "funny-drunk" routine fame and also included performer Lola Falana, who additionally served as the show's announcer, and other persons previously best known as comedy writers, including Ronny Graham and Pat McCormick. Quincy Jones' orchestra provided the music. Ongoing sketches included "The Wife of the Week" and the adventures of "The Dude", a man who was so impossibly cool that nothing whatever could faze him or cause him in any way to lose his composure or coolness.

The opening theme was "Chump Change" by Quincy Jones. It later went on to become the main theme for the CBS game show Now You See It.

The show was met with low ratings, due to competition from ABC's Monday Night Football, and was cancelled after one season.

There are less than twenty-four hours to go over at Christie’s before several photographs, prints and drawings by Andy Warhol — mostly male nudes — will be sold online as ‘Andy’s Eye Candy’. The sale, staged just in time for pride month in the U.S., includes copious amounts of ass. When we last checked, a few of the photos were currently hovering around $1,000 with Warhol’s ’Piss Painting’ receiving the highest bid of $45,000.

8 NHL Hockey Players That Make Us Melt

Henrik Lundqvist
It’s Stanley Cup time, and we've got hockey fever!

The NHL has been at the forefront of inclusiveness: Every team in the league has a member involved with You Can Play, the nonprofit dedicated to battling homophobia in organized athletics. “”The official policy of the NHL is one of inclusion on the ice, in our locker rooms and in the stands.” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman last year.

Pro hockey players like Sean Avery have stood up for marriage equality and others, like the Edmonton Oilers’ Andrew Ference have participated in their local Pride celebration.

And it doesn't hurt that so many pro ice hockey players are easy on the eyes—even after taking a puck to the face. Some, like Henrik Lundqvist, have made big bank as models.

So, we sing the praises of 8 gorgeous NHL hockey players.

They’re big shoes to fill, but we think he’s got what it takes. American Beauty is a 1999 American comedy-drama film directed by Sam Mendes and written by Alan Ball. Kevin Spacey stars as office worker Lester Burnham, who has a midlife crisis when he becomes infatuated with his teenage daughter's best friend, Angela (Mena Suvari). Annette Bening co-stars as Lester's materialistic wife, Carolyn, and Thora Birch plays their insecure daughter, Jane; Wes Bentley, Chris Cooper, and Allison Janney also feature. The film has been described by academics as a satire of American middle class notions of beauty and personal satisfaction; analysis has focused on the film's explorations of romantic and paternal love, sexuality, beauty, materialism, self-liberation, and redemption.

Ball began writing American Beauty as a play in the early 1990s, partly inspired by the media circus around the Amy Fisher trial in 1992. He shelved the play after realizing the story would not work on stage. After several years as a television screenwriter, Ball revived the idea in 1997 when attempting to break into the film industry. The modified script had a cynical outlook that was influenced by Ball's frustrating tenures writing for several sitcoms. Producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen took American Beauty to DreamWorks; the fledgling film studio bought Ball's script for $250,000, outbidding several other production bodies. DreamWorks financed the $15 million production and served as the North American distributor. American Beauty marked acclaimed theater director Mendes' film debut; courted after his successful productions of the musicals Oliver! and Cabaret, Mendes was nevertheless only given the job after twenty others were considered and several "A-list" directors turned down the opportunity.

Spacey was Mendes' first choice for the role of Lester, even though DreamWorks had urged the director to consider better-known actors; similarly, the studio suggested several actors for the role of Carolyn until Mendes offered the part to Bening without DreamWorks' knowledge. Principal photography took place between December 1998 and February 1999 on soundstages at the Warner Bros. backlot in Burbank, California and on location in Los Angeles. Mendes' dominant style was deliberate and composed; he made extensive use of static shots and slow pans and zooms to generate tension. Cinematographer Conrad Hall complemented Mendes' style with peaceful shot compositions to contrast with the turbulent on-screen events. During editing, Mendes made several changes that gave the film a less cynical tone.

Released in North America on September 15, 1999, American Beauty was positively received by critics and audiences alike; it was the best-reviewed American film of the year and grossed over $350 million worldwide. Reviewers praised most aspects of the production, with particular emphasis on Mendes, Spacey and Ball; criticism tended to focus on the familiarity of the characters and setting. DreamWorks launched a major campaign to increase American Beauty's chances of Academy Award success; at the 72nd Academy Awards the following year, the film won Best Picture for Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks, Best Director for Sam Mendes, Best Actor for Kevin Spacey, Best Original Screenplay for Alan Ball, and Best Cinematography for Conrad Hall.

The 10 Best Movie Musicals Ever Made

From: The blot

The Band Wagon

The Band Wagon is a 1953 musical comedy film that many critics rank, along with Singin' in the Rain, as the finest of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musicals, although it was only a modest box-office success. It tells the story of an aging musical star who hopes a Broadway play will restart his career. However, the play's director wants to make it a pretentious retelling of Faust, and brings in a prima ballerina who clashes with the star.

The songs were written by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz, and some were created for the original 1931 Broadway musical also called The Band Wagon, with a book by George S. Kaufman and starring Fred Astaire and his sister Adele. (Fred Astaire also stars in the movie.) The movie's dances and musical numbers were staged by Michael Kidd.

The song "That's Entertainment!", which Schwartz and Dietz wrote specifically for the film, was a hit and has become a standard. Another song orchestrated by Conrad Salinger, "Dancing in the Dark", is considered part of the Great American Songbook and was from the original Broadway production. Astaire's early number in the film, "A Shine On Your Shoes" was actually written for a 1932 Broadway revue with music and lyrics by Dietz and Schwartz called Flying Colors. It had originally been performed by the dancing team of Buddy and Vilma Ebsen. In the movie version of The Band Wagon, the song was reworked to show off Astaire's musical talents.

The film was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, Color, Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay. Screenwriters Betty Comden and Adolph Green, who received the nomination for the screenplay, patterned the film's characters Lester and Lily Marton after themselves, although the fictional characters were a married couple and Comden and Green were not romantically involved.

In 1995, The Band Wagon was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". In 2006, this film ranked #17 on the American Film Institute's list of best musicals.

OMG Guillaume Canet is a hot man. A HUGE actor, director, writer and producer in France, he might be known to some American audiences for his role in The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. But if you only watch English Language films your missing out on Guillaume. He has the most adorable face and butt and is an amazing actor to boot! Enjoy and look for some of his films!

Guillaume Canet (born 10 April 1973) is a French actor, film director and screenwriter.

Canet began his career in theater and television before moving to film. He starred in several films like Joyeux Noël, Love Me If You Dare and The Beach. In 2006, he turned to writing and directing with Tell No One and won a César Award for Best Director.

Canet has also received attention because of his personal life. He was formerly married to actress Diane Kruger. After they divorced he began a relationship with Marion Cotillard that was closely followed by the media.

In 1999, he started a relationship with German-born model and actress Diane Kruger. They were married on 1 September 2001. In January 2006, Canet and Kruger filed for divorce. Kruger later said that the marriage was not successful because their careers had kept them occupied in different parts of the world.

Canet has been romantically involved with his Love Me If You Dare co-star Marion Cotillard since late 2007. The couple later appeared together in the 2009 film The Last Flight. The couple has attracted considerable attention from the French media, but they have not discussed their relationship and did not appear together on a red carpet event until the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. On 10 January 2011, Canet and Cotillard told People magazine that they were expecting their first child in May 2011. The couple welcomed their son, Marcel, on 19 May 2011.
