Happy Birthday Travis Wall! Ten Times He Soared To New Heights

A tribute to the out choreographer
From: NewNowNext
Since his first audition on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance , out choreographer Travis Wall has mesmerized us with his skill, athleticism, and heart.

He didn’t win his season of SYTYCD (he was runner-up), but he used that success as a catapult, joining the show as choreographer in Season 5, and branching out in the last few years, starting his own dance company, choreographing the Off-Broadway show Bare, and working on the Academy Awards and VMA’s.

Today is his 28th birthday, so let’s take a look at some memorable moments.
1
His Adorable Audition

Travis was just 18 when he auditioned for Season Two of So You Think You Can Dance in 2006. The judges had a rare moment of lucidity.

3
”Best Friends”

One of the greatest moments in the history of the show was in Season Seven, with Travis’ choreography for Kent and Neil as “best friends.”

4
”Wind Beneath My Wings”

That was eclipsed with this gorgeous, haunting routine to “Wind Beneath My Wings,” featuring two same-sex couples.

5
Which Finally Won Him The Emmy!

7
”The Bench”

Travis danced with Heidi Groskreutz during his competition season, in a routine choreographed by Mia Michaels. “The Bench” was not only the highlight of the season, it won Mia an Emmy for Choreography.
8
”All The Right Moves”

In 2012, Travis and his friends Teddy Forance, Nick Lazzarini and Kyle Robinson teamed up to start the dance company Shaping Sound, and the reality show All The Right Moves followed their progress. Here’s one of Travis’ finest moments on the show.
9
”Wicked Game”

In Season Nine, Travis choreographed and danced this stunning number with Amy Yakima to “Wicked Game.”
10
”It’s Raining Men.”

Because it doesn’t get any better than this.

Your Week in Beefcake:

Syfy’s “Dominion” Delivers the Goods and Brandon Routh Loses His Shirt on “Enlisted
From: The Backlot
It’s been another good week for TV beefcake. This week saw TV Land’s new comedy Jennifer Falls join the fun while American Ninja Warrior played catchup after the near-freezing temperatures of the St. Louis qualifying round and Syfy debuted Dominion, which showed a different side of the channel.

The week started with penultimate episode of Enlisted which, per usual, had plenty of shirtlessness. There was the revelation that Pete and Randy‘s brotherly rivalry’s includes contests where they pull out each other’s armpit hair to see who screams first from the pain. (Seriously. Straight boys, go fig.)

There was also the return of Brandon Routh as the ex-husband of Derrick‘s girlfriend Erin. He had taken to doing repairs around the house. Naturally, fixing the sprinklers should be done shirtless. You might get wet. Or something.

He also takes of his shirt to clear a clogged sink.

Meanwhile, Halt and Catch Fire offered more of Joe‘s scarred chest.

It also revealed that…er,that Joe stands naked in his apartment, surrounded by tech? I have no idea how to interpret that scene.
 And then there was this:

Except it’s not clear that Joe is gay or bisexual, just a manipulator with flexible sexuality. He wasn't happy with the idea of Cardiff getting a big investment from Lulu (Jean Smart) so he seduced Lulu’s husband to kill the deal. Still, Lee Pace stripping off his coat is, well…
Thankfully, this week’s American Ninja Warrior qualifying round took place in Miami, where things were warm enough to be comfortable without a shirt. Even the guy demonstrating the obstacles for the audience delivered some heat.
Professional wakeboarder Shaun Murray took his first run at the course. Too bad the gym he built in his backyard didn’t include a warped wall.
After a strong debut last year, Idoko Abuh made a strong return.
Not only can optician Jonathan Ruiz conquor the qualifying course, he’s also a capoera master.
I’m not sure what he had on his back.
It was a good week for costumes. There were two Spartans. New to the course is firebreather Reko Rivera.
This costume highlighted Reko’s muscular back.
William Brown, who has worn the spartan costume in previous competitions also showed up.
Pilot Brandon Arringon stepped up to the starting line in his uniform shirt but stripped it off before running the course.
Miami is also home to the rivalry between American Ninja Warrior All-Stars Drew Dreschel and Flip Rodriguez. Drew set a high bar, running the course in record time.
However, Flip failed to beat Drew in one of those stunning moments that make American Ninja Warrior unique — what would this show be without its dramatic upsets? We look forward to seeing him next year (or maybe in the Wild Card group).
Toby (Keegan Allen) was back in Rosewood on Pretty Little Liars, and he celebrated in the obvious way.
America’s Got Talent put all its hot guys’ auditions in a single block. It started with hand balancer Christian Stoinev, who began his act wearing a jacket with tails and no shirt underneath.

Thankfully, it seems like the jacket was there so that we could enjoy seeing him take it off.
Then we got a brief (very brief) glimpse of dance troupe The Bad Boys of Ballet who knew that Magic Mike cemented Maroon 5‘s “Moves Like Jagger” as the official song of hot guys dancing.
Wednesday brought a pair of comedies with ogle material. On Baby Daddy, we had Tahj Mowry getting out of the shower to yell at Bonnie. (She “absentmindedly” walked in on him.)
Meanwhile, Jennifer Falls had Jennifer (Jaime Pressly) in a relationship with the beer delivery guy (played by Ben Lawson last seen a credible love interest for Chloe on Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23). One problem for Jennifer, it was a strictly sexual relationship.
The heavily inked Conrad Dechabert was one of the returning auditions on So You Think You Can Dance. Last time, Conrad was rejected for being too feminine (sigh, this show), but this year he wowed them and got a ticket.

Thursday, Syfy debuted Dominion which mixed a post-apocalyptic setting with angels waging war against humanity (Hi Supernatural!), paranoia-inspiring enemies who look like everyone else (Hi Battlestar Galatica!) political scheming (Hi Game of Thrones!) and co-ed showers (Hi Starship Troopers!)

That’s right. Butts! Butts on Syfy! It’s a mature prestige-drama channel now.

The series stars Hollywood’s go-to guy for playing a “Chosen One” in a universe heavily influenced by Christian lore, Kings alum Chris Egan.

That’s the last you’ll see of Eagan’s unmarked torso. By the end of the pilot, he had the tattoos identifying him as humanity’s savior from the angels.
It also starred Tom Wisdom as aloof angel Michael. The character is a long way from naive, over-his-head Marco from Mile High.
Josh Hopkins appeared on Undateable this week. Wisely, the sitcom make sure he didn’t wear a shirt in all of his scenes.
Among the soaps, General Hospital started out the week with Nathan going out for a jog.
Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives had Brady spending another episode in bed with Theresa.
The next day Rafe had ex sex with Kate.
People watching Hollyoaks on Hulu started the week with Jason Roscoe working out shirtless.

Too bad he was pretty quick to put a shirt on once he had company.
Tuesday, the show tried to distract us from Patrick‘s awfulness with his fit torso.

Could This Guy Go All the Way on “So You Think You Can Dance”?

From: The Backlot
So You Think You Can Dance is just at the beginning of its latest season and still in the audition rounds. Usually interest picks up for the show once the finalists are announced and the competition begins in earnest. But last night an 18-year-old contemporary dancer named Ricky Ubeda made a very strong impression during his audition and we can’t wait to see more of him.

No doubt we will. After the performance Nigel Lythgoe commented that he thought Ricky could “go all the way.”

Check out Ubeda’s performance for yourself!

Your Week in Beefcake:

The Little Soldiers of “Drop Dead Diva” and “Halt and Catch Fire” Rips Lee Pace’s Shirt Open
From: The Backlot
It’s time to review Your Week in Beefcake, a look back to the past week of shirtlessness on TV.

Sunday was a busy night for TV beefcake. Enlisted saw Rear D work to prepare for a base inspection. The episode started with an early morning alert of the incoming visit, which meant we got to see the Hill brothers’ sleepwear. Pete sleeps in his boxers:
Randy also sleeps in his boxers, while Derick goes for the comfy old t-shirt and PJs.
Drop Dead Diva saw Kim sue Empress Katya, a Lady Gaga-style recording artist (but with a personality that’s just terrible) who had a habit of stealing choreography from small dance troupes. Worse, when her theft was discovered, she would turn things around and sue the troupe out of existence. Her plan included calling on her fans, the Little Soldiers, to protest the firm. That meant shirtless, artsy pop diva fans in the halls of Harrison & Parke
Sometimes you just have to look past the attempt to look avant-garde.
Kim did the sensible thing — ask Paul (Justin Dooley) to take off his shirt, give him a silly hat and have him infiltrate the Little Soldiers.
AMC’s period tech drama Halt and Catch Fire also got Lee Pace to show off his chest. Since this is a smart, serious show he exposed himself to show his scars — literal and metaphorical scars, to reaffirm Gordon‘s wavering loyalty.
Monday brought the American Ninja Warrior qualifying course to St Louis where “World’s Greatest Plummer” Bill Westrick basically asked, ‘How can I be 46 years old if I have these abs?
Then there was bearded wrestler Matt Capiccioni.
Newcomer Rob Moravsky was introduced with a workout montage.
He was quick to lose his shirt before running the course and was given the nickname “Adonis.” I can’t call that inapt.
Tuesday’s Faking It finale started with a shirtless Liam (Greg Sulkin) helping Karma live out her Ghost fantasies.
This season, America’s Got Talent has been light on the beefcake. It made up for it with with dance troupe The Team.
Take a closer look at the lead dancer in the squarecut shorts. If you look down, you’ll see he had his leg in a cast and still managed to be a part of a dance number that impressed the judges.
There was also hand balancer Andrey Morau who kept his shirt on — but it was a loose-fitting shirt and his graceful performance didn’t involve staying rightside-up very often so he pretty much performed shirtless.
Magician Patrick might be the rare magician showing as much skin as his female assistants.
Yes, Eion Macken was shirtless again on The Night Shift.
His chest also made an appearance in the new intro sequence
 As did J.R. Lemon‘s back
However, this week the beefcake was primarily provided by Brendan Fehr, who started out the episode in an MMA cage fight. He’s too extreme to worry that smashing his hand into some guy’s face will lead to injury until it happens.
It would be wrong to overlook the guy he was fighting.
This week, most of the guys auditioning on So You Can Dance danced with a shirt on. Thankfully, returning dancer Shafeek Westbrook stripped off his top amid his audition.
There was also the return of “Johnny Waacks“.
Stanley Glover used his long, lean body to deliver a “creature-like” dance.
This was a very good week for shirtless hunks on the soaps Tuesday’s Days of Our Lives saw things get hot and heavy for J.J. Deveraux (Casey Moss) and… er, Ann? Egg?
Then on Thursday, Brady (Eric Martsolf) took most of the episode to put clothes on. First he was sleeping off an especially wild night.
Then he needed to send Theresa out for more shampoo. I guess whenever Brady was going to go shopping Theresa distracted him with drugs.
Friday’s General Hospital was one of those great days that started with Nathan (Ryan Paevey) getting out of the shower. The great thing about those days is that Nathan keeps getting distracted every time he thinks about putting some clothes on, it takes a while for him to get dressed.
Thursday saw Aussie Levi (Zachary Garred) do some shirtless yoga outdoors.
And on Hulu, Hollyoaks delivered a lot of shirtless guys. Monday offered more of Dodger (Danny Mac) helped Dennis unload a van.
Tuesday, delivered a little bit of Joe Roscoe (Ayden Callghan) in bed.
And Thursday saw Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) dance his clothes off as he expected some quality time with Nancy, which was spoiled when his half-brother walked through the door.
