Walt Whitman

One of the greatest collections of American poetry is also the gayest. Walt Whitman’s 1885 masterpiece is not only an epic ode to the wonders of the natural world and manifest destiny, but also celebrates (or “sings of”) the sensual qualities of “the manly love of comrades.” “We Two Boys Together Clinging” from the Calamus section of the collection is one of the greatest examples of the overt sexuality and beauty in Whitman’s work.

We two boys together clinging
One the other never leaving
Up and down the roads going, North and South excursions making,
Power enjoying, elbows stretching, fingers clutching,
Arm’d and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving,
No law less than ourselves owning, sailing, soldiering, thieving, threatening,
Misers, menials, priests alarming, air breathing, water drinking, on the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
Cities wrenching, ease scorning, statutes mocking, feebleness chasing,
Fulfilling our foray.

Favorite Guy to fill out his undies:June 30, 2008

 Jeff Brazier
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
UK reality guy Jeff Brazier fills out a pair of undies like no other. Here are some pics from the show The Farm.

Jeffrey Carl Brazier (born 27 May 1979) is an English television presenter, reality TV star and former amateur footballer, notable for being the father to the late Jade Goody's children. He is currently best known for his role as a presenter on The Hub section of This Morning.

Brazier's father, Stephen Faldo, was the skipper of the pleasure boat Marchioness, which sank on the River Thames in 1989 after being hit by a dredger, killing him as well as 50 others.

Brazier has two sons from his relationship with Big Brother contestant Jade Goody, whom he was with from 2002 until 2004. They were both born in Harlow, Essex: Bobby Jack (born 2003) and Freddy (born 2004). Brazier resides in Chelmsford, Essex. They appeared in Wife Swap in 2003 and Brazier was occasionally seen in Goody's Living shows. She died on 22 March 2009 and left Brazier full custody of their sons. He did not attend her funeral in April 2009, but instead took their sons away from the media spotlight to stay with relatives in Adelaide, Australia.

He presented a documentary on Living TV called Superdaddy where he uses his experiences of being a single father to help other families learn to communicate with regards to their children. He insisted his sons, Bobby and Freddie, were not involved in filming and revealed during the show he has a privacy order banning any unauthorized images of the boys since Goody died, stating he prefers them to have a normal upbringing away from any media spotlight.

Brazier began dating former glamour model, Nicola Tappenden in December 2011. The couple, however, broke up in March 2013 with Tappenden moving out of Brazier's home.

Allan Stein
 by
Matthew Stadler
Matthew Stadler’s award-winning 1999 novel follows the journey of a compromised young teacher to Paris to uncover the sad history of Gertrude Stein’s troubled nephew Allan. Having been fired from his job because of a sex scandal involving a student, the teacher travels to Paris under an assumed name — that of his best friend, Herbert. In Paris, “Herbert” becomes enchanted by Stephane, a fifteen-year-old boy. As he unravels the gilded but sad childhood of Allan Stein, “Herbert” is haunted by memories of his own boyhood, particularly his odd, flamboyant mother. Moving from the late twentieth century back to the 1900s, effortlessly blending fact and fiction, Allan Stein is a charged exploration of eroticism, obsession and identity.

Great Performances, a television series devoted to the performing arts, has been telecast on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) public television since 1972. The show is produced by WNET in New York City (originally in conjunction with KQED San Francisco, WTTW Chicago, Maryland Public Television, South Carolina ETV and KERA-TV of Dallas/Fort Worth).

The series is the longest running performing arts anthology on television, as opposed to a program like Hallmark Hall of Fame, which presents only adaptations of plays and novels as well as made-for-TV films. Great Performances presents concerts, ballet, opera, an occasional documentary such as Toscanini: The Maestro, and plays. The series has also won many television awards, including an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award and an Image Award, with nods from the Directors Guild of America and the Cinema Audio Society.

The program's spin-off, Great Performances: Dance In America, which began on PBS in 1976, concentrates solely on dance. The first episode "Sue's Leg: Remembering the Thirties" featured choreography by Twyla Tharp. Later episodes featured such performers as Mikhail Baryshnikov. Although it is not seen as often as previously, there have recently been new Dance in America programs, such as the Emmy-winning 2005 production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, starring Angel Corella, Gillian Murphy and the American Ballet Theatre.

In 2007, Great Performances began telecasting performances from the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD series, a series of HD opera tapings primarily meant for movie theaters.

Repeat guest hosts include Walter Cronkite, Julie Andrews and Whoopi Goldberg. Major underwriters throughout the show's run have included The National Endowment for the Arts, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, PBS viewers, Exxon, Martin Marietta, Texaco, Deluxe, Duracell, Ernst & Young, Chase Manhattan Bank and UBS.

In 2009, new theme music for Great Performances was introduced, composed by John Williams.

The 20 Worst Songs Of The 70′s and 80′s!

“Hands Across America”
Voices Of America

It started with “Do They Know It’s Christmas,” which was a sincere effort, then Hollywood-ized with “We Are The World.” I’m talking about the mid-80’s fad of the charity awareness song. “Sun City” was a noble effort, and “Stars” was the most fun. We’re Magic In The Night!

But by the time “Hands Across America” came out in 1986, it was already over. The event was a bust (except in the biggest cities), and the song is terrible, a generic pastiche of every “United We Stand” cliche you can think of. But the 80’s stars on display in the video … priceless.

Elmer Gantry
Elmer Gantry
Burton Stephen "Burt" Lancaster (November 2, 1913 – October 20, 1994) was an American film actor noted for his athletic physique, blue eyes, and distinctive smile (which he called "The Grin"). After initially building his career on "tough guy" roles Lancaster abandoned his "all-American" image in the late 1950s in favor of more complex and challenging roles, and came to be regarded as one of the best motion picture actors of his generation.

Lancaster was nominated four times for Academy Awards and won once for his work in Elmer Gantry in 1960. He also won a Golden Globe for that performance and BAFTA Awards for The Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Atlantic City (1980). His production company, Hecht-Hill-Lancaster, was the most successful and innovative star-driven independent production company in Hollywood in the 1950s, making movies such as Marty (1955), Trapeze (1956), Sweet Smell of Success (1957), and Separate Tables (1958).

In 1999, the American Film Institute named Lancaster 19th among the greatest male stars of all time.

This groundbreaking novel by trans activist Leslie Feinberg became an underground hit upon publication in the 1990s and went on to mainstream success in the 2000s. Stone Butch Blues tells the story of Jess, a working class Jewish butch, who runs away to gay life in pre-Stonewall NYC. MEN! Multi-Tasking Is Not For You!

Michael ~ Vancouver, British Columbia

From: Gay Bachelor
I'm Michael I'm 21 years old from the small city of Maple Ridge just outside Vancouver, British Columbia Canada.

Well, where to begin? I'm an extremely unique individual. Currently, I'm just finishing up my education with a Diploma of Interior Design with high hopes to make it far within the industry. Yes, HGTV here I come. Just kiddin'. But I have a huge passion and love for art, whether it be classical music as a form of art (which by the way I can play the piano and 'merry had a little lamb' on the Cello), abstract paintings, architecture, interior design, fashion, photography, I can go on and on. Another HUGE passion of mine is Animals. I've been vegetarian for more than two years and no plans on going back. So hopefully my next partner will respect my decision on that and not make fun of my interesting vegan meals!! But, have to admit, I do make mean Vegan Cinnamon buns and doughnuts. Back to the animals, I've been Equestrian riding for my whole life, Horses are a big part of my life and always will be. Equestrian jumping is my sport of choice. Overall, I'm an optimistic, somewhat spiritual, caring, compassionate and loving soul. I love to travel, yes, I will go anywhere in the world, you name it, I will go! So that's me in a nutshell (oh and I'm pretty small @ 5'9" and 140lbs, just an FYI).

What am I looking for? I've had a long-term relationship in the past and have been single since. Been on a few dates here and there but no such luck yet. In a partner I search for more chemistry than a 'checklist' as many people have. As long as we get along, have similar passions and interests and have the chemistry then I'm all good to go! Would love someone to travel with, who's interested in art and also a nature lover. Just be yourself and that's all I ask!
