Joshua Gagnon: Something Wicked This Way Comes

From:  Favorite Hunks & Other Things
Joshua Gagnon's work with Rob was certainly not the New Hampshire artist's first foray into the world of the wicked. In fact. over the years he has created many scenarios delving into the dark side. Below are three of my favorites, along with the artists own words about how they all came together.

Jack O' Lantern
Model: Andrew

'This was the first set from a shoot i recently did with Andrew, the theme was creepy, and Halloween based. Andrew asked for this shot so he could utilize it for a film he is writing and directing involving a serial killer. I didn't feel it at first until the photo was completely retouched and then I stood back and looked at it really happy with the way it turned out.'
'Andrew came baring the small jack o' lantern, the fog machine (which we already established that I didn't want any part of at first) and requested to be greased up to look shiny. He brought witch hazel for this. The girl at the store told him it would make him shiny. This was a close your eyes and shake your head scenario, and I think we all had a chuckle, obviously witch hazel is an astringent and wont do anything besides dry up your skin and work (wonderfully i might add) as a toner. So I acted quickly and grabbed the olive oil. Yes folks, the shine you see on Andrew's body was Olive oil, that was an interesting experience.'
''This was a last minute photo we grabbed when I realized he could bend this way, it kind of didn't look human. I was honestly just in shock that he could bend like this haha, but he's an amazing dancer so I should have guessed. This is the benefit to working with dancers over regular models, they do interesting things with their bodies. Andrew can lift his leg clear up to his head and hold it there without struggling or flinching.'
 Blood Play
Model: Matt
'It was honestly a funny scenario, I had him taped to the kitchen sink, doused in fake blood we had left over from a production of Macbeth, and in nothing but his underwear. It was a small area with the both of us and a ton of lighting, so it was quite the production. It was shot at like 2 in the morning, so there was a lot of laughing going on...'
'The best part is that Matt is so not freaky, he is a cute little Hollister type guy, sexy but in a way that makes the viewer wonder if they should be finding the photo sexy.'
 Throat Ripped
Model: Bryson
Makeup: Richard M Murphy
'I finally got the chance to work with a good friend of mine on designing a good old horror shoot. I have Known MUA Richard Murphy for several years now. He is a self taught, amateur makeup/gore artist, but his work is brilliant and speaks for itself.'
'After doing several studio shots, we took the model still in makeup to a location which happened to pass by a hospital, and this woman on the street looked into the car and started screaming!'

Model of The Day: October 25, 2009

Dane Caroggio
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
Dane by Ching Chi Photography
'I love expressing myself through an image, and simultaneously being able to convey what the artist/photographer/designer is trying to get across as well. I enjoy modeling to the fullest - I have been a professional dancer for many years and look at both of these arts as a kind of a performance in a way.'
Dane Caroggio

Dane by Mark Gebhardt
It was clear from the seeing the first image of 24 year old Dane Caroggio that he was a dancer. The San Francisco has the dancers build and his skill with rhythm and movement help create beautiful images. Besides his great body, Dane has a wonderful face for modeling, able to convey serious intensity and as well can switch to a youthful vulnerability.

Auld Lang Syne: Nigel by Chris Teel

March 4, 2014
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
Yes, New Years Eve was over two months ago. It is now history, a part of the past. The sentiment however, which surrounds the evening, is one that figures both literally, and metaphorically in this piece featuring photographer Chris Teel's images of Nigel.

Since the beginning of FH in 2007, I have now published over 9000 posts. Thousands of images, celebrity profiles, commentaries on pop culture, stories and of course model and artist profiles. One of my closest collaborators over the years has been Toronto's Chris Teel who when I did a quick scan in my post list has appeared on FH in close to 100 of those 9000 posts.

Chris has introduced myself, and readers of the blog, to male models who have become not only favorites of mine, but favorites of readers of the blog. I cannot possibly name them all but I know from the blog stats, many of you still enjoy revisiting Chris's work on the blog. Some of, but not nearly all include models; Samuel Boux, Claudiu, Quinn Christopher Jackson and model search winner Matt Eldracher.

2014 marks the sixth year Chris's work has appeared on the blog and today's post, the first one this year. I couldn't have asked for a better set, and model than 26 year old Montreal model Nigel. Nigel has been modeling for a few years now, but it was just last fall I that was introduced to his work. I am not the only to have discovered how impressive Nigel is in front of the camera as he seems to be busier than ever shooting the last six months or so. It is no surprise, with his incredible body and soulful brown eyes, Nigel beautifully fills every inch of each frame.

Chris and Nigel had actually booked a shoot in Montreal 2 years ago for a New Year's Eve Day. Nigel ended up having to cancel as he had hurt his leg and ended up in the emergency room that morning. Two years later, again around New Year, Nigel contacted Chris about rescheduling. The reason for the similar timing was that Nigel was going to be in Toronto for a New Years Eve celebration.

'Nigel was great! The day before our shoot he'd cut his forehead with a skate and showed up with a small gash in his forehead. Luckily I was able to edit it out in post production! As well as having to deal with the injury, the room we shot in was incredibly cold. Nigel was a true professional and pushed through.'
