About Global Beatles Day
It was in the year 1960, on a foggy island found Nor-Norwest of Spain that music history changed forever. Four young proto-gods came together to form what would be one of the most influential rock bands to ever come out of England, if not the entire world. We’re speaking, of course, of the Beatles. Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr. These four boys came together to change the world one song at a time.

While they started their career like most musical groups, playing cheap dive clubs all over their home town of Liverpool, their manager was an artisan of his craft and helped guide them to rise to their potential. Their explosion in popularity came on the heels of their first hit song “Love Me Do”, and love them we did, it didn’t take long before the entire world was caught up in Beatlemania.

Global Beatles Day celebrates the huge influence they brought to the world, not just with their musical sounds, but with the values they professed and believed in. Throughout their entire career they promoted the idea that we could all live in a peaceful world, built on the ideas of truth, love, and reaching beyond the boundaries of current human consciousness. Through their music they instigated changes in the ways people express themselves, fashion trends, sex, art, and the embracing of the imagination.

How to Celebrate Global Beatles Day
The Beatles give us a lot of material to work with when it comes to celebrating a day dedicated to them. Perhaps on Global Beatles Day you can show up at work dressed as your favorite Beatle, or just spend the day listening to your favorite Beatles album. Trips down to your local crosswalk with a group of friends can serve as an opportunity to recreate the cover of the Abbey Park album.

With a lot of creativity and an encyclopedic knowledge of the Beatles discography, you can probably produce a quote from a song throughout the day to suit just about any situation! Even better, get together with a group of your buddies and throw ‘Yellow Submarine’ in the media player, and watch a psychedelic trip through one of the most famous albums of all time!

The Beatles still stand as one of the most influential bands of all time, famous all over the world to this very day. The prevalence of them in the worldwide culture can be seen in everything from choices of music for movie backdrops to jokes that are made around the world, from visual to audio. Global Beatles Day is a great time to remember these pioneers o

Cute? Gary Fletcher by Andrew Bowman

'Hey kids, look what Grandad used to look like!'
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
 Cute
Attractive, appealing and delightful; charming, commonly associated with youth and appearance

Cute is one of those words that has really now lost any specific meaning. Hot guys, especially younger looking ones, are often described as cute, but the overused adjective is also used about puppies, kittens, old ladies, hamsters and frogs. Cute can often also be condescending, regardless of intention. There is not a lot of depth in cute and sometimes describing a subject as cute, a word you might use for both a man and a pet, can indicate a lack of intelligence, a vapidness and absence of depth.

'If I say I'm going to be somewhere, I'll be there!'

I have been following and featuring the work of photographer Andrew Bowman since first discovering his work earlier this year. (I Do: & The Coiffure Conversion) I love how Andrew is able to bring out such character and personality in his subjects, not to mention a distinct focus on romance and especially fun! When I first saw his images of 19 year old Gary Fletcher, I admit my first thought was how cute and adorable Gary was. It was not just his youthful appearance but also the the way in which Andrew captured him, especially when capturing his amazing grin. Although just 19, when I began communicating with Gary about a feature, I quickly discovered cute only scratched the surface.

Intelligent, professional and both serious and realistic about the modeling world. Gary's perspective about his work is both impressive and refreshing. Andrew first saw Gary through an image on a Model Mayhem contest and was impressed with his natural looking build. He describes Gary as lovely, easy to work with and said that he seemed eager get naked as quickly as possible and get the work done!

 Gary on...

Getting into Modeling:

'I'm not even too sure myself to be honest, I always had my top off at any opportunity and just thought I might as well make use of being young and being in good shape, so I came across Model Mayhem and got started.'

Getting Naked in front of the lens:

'I'd had advice not to jump straight into nude and to ease myself into it, but in my opinion, jumping straight in helped me immensely and I became much less nervous very quickly. I went nude on my first ever shoot and within an hour or so I was comfortable (Still nervous somewhat of course) but by my second shoot I had all the confidence in the world and it really didn't phase me too much.'

 His First Shoot:

'I'll start with the nail biting journey to meet this photographer I knew barely anything about, I'm on a train to somewhere about an hour away from where I live going to meet up with a complete stranger who is going to photograph me naked, sounds crazy right? I felt at ease as soon as I met the photographer (John Grayson aka Clean Slate) He was very professional and we had a fun varied session, we did a bit of work in his home studio and then headed out to an abandoned fort which was covered in graffiti almost everywhere you looked, a great location for a first shoot, I had a great time and went home happy.'

Strange Offers:

'I get a lot of porn offers (straight and gay) and quite obvious guys with cameras who just want to see you naked for a period of time, the guys who ask if I will "shoot my load" or "give them a money shot" really make me laugh though. I did once have an offer to shoot with a BBW, which for one I would not enjoy very much, and two my girlfriend would definitely not be happy with. I also a while back had an offer for a "Gay Sherlock Holmes" type play, that just isn't my thing so I turned it down...'

 Working With Andrew:

'Really fun, we had a great shoot and got a lot of good shots. (as you can see) Andrew is a really relaxed guy with a seriously big amount of props and underwear, when you walk into a photographers home and see a sofa covered in underwear you don't really know what to say aha!'

'I've even got USA on the cards for next year (fingers crossed) and in February I'm featured in an art nude book along with some of London's top agency models shot by a photographer who will remain anonymous at the moment. I'm not going to get ahead of myself and tell you I'm going to be a professional model and make a load of money doing it because realistically it probably won't happen (not to say there isn't a chance, there's always a chance) but I enjoy doing it and I'll just be glad I have all of this to look back on, when I'm old and wrinkly I can say "Hey kids, look what Grandad used to look like!'

Don’t Expect Independence Day’s Gay Couple To Kiss—Or Survive The Movie

Too much to hope for?
From: NewNowNext
Even before the blowback to Stonewall, director Roland Emmerich made a big deal of announcing that Independence Day: Resurgence would feature a same-sex relationship.

“We have a gay couple in the film,” he told The Hollywood Reporter last year. “We don’t make a big deal out of it. You start small and then you get bigger and bigger and bigger, and one day you have a gay character as the lead and nobody will wonder at it no more. But we’re not there yet.”

But according to some people who have seen Resurgence, Emmerich started really small. Like, microscopic.

The Guardian’s Benjamin Lee says the relationship—between Doctors Okun and Isaacs—is underwhelming to say the least:

I started to wonder whether the couple had even made it through to the final edit. Any reference was entirely absent from all publicity materials and as the film progressed, I was struggling to define any of the relationships as gay…

But it’s only in the final reel that we discover who the same-sex characters really are. As aliens battle their way to steal a chatty orb (don’t ask), Brent Spiner’s loopy coma-waking scientist and his co-worker, played by John Storey (both of whom starred in the first film) hold hands in solidarity.

After one of them gets hit, a swiftly emotional death scene follows which has one use of the word “baby,” a joke about knitting and some final clues to the nature of their relationship (“Who’s going to make sure you wear your pants in the morning?”). That’s it.

Lee acknowledges a sex scene, or even a montage of their wedding, was probably too much to hope for.”But the embarrassing Hays Code coyness of it all meant that one could still watch the film and just see them as really good friends.”

Did Fox nix any stronger representation, or is Emmerich just tone deaf? His comments that the Stonewall riots “were a white event,” suggests the latter.

It’s also disappointing that one of the partners ends up dying—just like Harvey Fierstein did in the first Independence Day.

Maybe we’re not at the point where Liam Hemsworth’s fighter pilot has a boyfriend, but certainly the token gays could survive the whole movie.

Then again, given the critical drubbing the film is receiving, maybe Dr Okun and Dr. Isaacs got off easy.

Ah well, there’s always the inevitable Independence Day 3.

With the Olympics just around the corner thought it was time to post on two of my favorite gymnasts, Paul and Morgan Hamm. I so want to make the Hamm sandwich crack, but I am sure that has been used at nauseum about these two brothers. Paul is the reigning Olympic champion but almost missed his chance to go to Beijing due to a hand injury. But both brothers were part of the 6 man Olympic team.
