Orlando Couple Who Hoped To Marry One Day Will Now Have A Joint Funeral

"If it’s not a funeral, they were going to have a wedding together."
From: NewNowNext
The families of the two young men, who both fell victim to the horrific shooting at Pulse Nightclub, announced plans Monday afternoon to hold a joint funeral service for the “soul mates.”

Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22, and his 32-year-old boyfriend, Christopher “Drew” Leinonen had been dating for nearly two years when they met their untimely end this past weekend. Guerrero’s father, also named Juan Ramon, told Time that though arrangements still need to be made, the two families want to lay their children to rest side-by-side.

“I think my son wanted to do that. That’s why,” the elder Guerrero, 61, said. “I don’t care what the people think. I don’t care.”

Of the couple, Guerrero’s older sister Aryam said, “They were honestly so in love. They were soul mates. You can tell by how they looked at each other. If it’s not a funeral, they were going to have a wedding together.”

She went on to say that her brother, who had just wrapped up his first year studying at the University of Central Florida, “was so much love and light.”

While Guerrero’s body was quickly identified in the early morning hours after the shooting, Leinonen’s had gone missing. It wasn’t until late Monday afternoon that he was found and eventually pronounced dead. Guerrero’s father says it was Leinonen’s mother Christine Leinonen, who made headlines with her heart-wrenching interview with ABC News following the attack, that suggested that the families say goodbye to their sons together.
