Ok, maybe "star" is a stretch," but a new country singer has emerged on the interwebz over the past few days. Steve Grand is a Chicago-based country singer who just recently released a new video for his song "All American Boy." In the video, Grand falls for a preposterously attractive man, only to have his advances spurned (after some naked swimming and making out, of course). All too relatable, isn't it?
Along with this video, Grand has also released a quasi-inspirational message (which, admittedly, feels extremely generic). In the statement, Grand says, "I fought with who I was for most of my life. In every way a young person can fight with himself.
But starting today... I'm laying it out there. I'm done playing it safe." Suspiciously relatable, no?
Ok fine, even if we tend to think that his video concept is extremely cheesy, we have to admit that Grand is jaw-droppingly sexy. Something vaguely reminiscent of Taylor Lautner, but without the dopey grin or any of the icky Twilight associations. Maybe it's the dark features. Or the washboard abs.
.However, the story takes an interesting twist! His music video also features a familiar face. Take a look at the video and see if anyone looks familiar.
Recognize anyone? Grand's cockteasing not-boyfriend is none other than Fratmen's Taylor. A gay country anthem featuring a former porn actor? Maybe we judged you a little harshly, Steve. There's more to you than meets the eye, like a transformer or a particularly fishy drag queen.
Poor Steve may not have been able to score with Taylor, but thanks to the magic of pornography, we can score with him over and over and over again (friction burn notwithstanding, of course). Nonetheless, we're betting pretty big money that we know what's going through Steve's mind at the moment. Or at least the few moments a day when he isn't actively thinking about what a giant career he's going to have after going viral and being so sexy.
As great as this is, we have to casually wonder how prepackaged this gay country sensation is. The evidence is mounting against him: He releases a pseudo-patriotic song in America just in time for 4th of July. He has a movie star face/body. The only real information about him online is a trite, cookie-cutter "I just gotta be me!" message. And to top it all off, his video stars a former porn actor. We have this vague suspicion that several week from now, he'll be picked up by the same big name label that secretly engineered his virility from the get-go. Not that this makes his message any less important or his abs any less beautiful.
We'll leave you with a laundry list of screen grabs of all the "Taylor moments" after the jump:
