Trustworthy Fox News anchor Shepard Smith is getting a lot of flack this week after he claimed actor Leonardo DiCaprio was the artist behind arguably the world's most famous painting, the "Mona Lisa."
Sure, DiCaprio is a huge talent but as most people know, he had nothing to do with the 16th-century Renaissance painting; that honor goes to Leonardo da Vinci. Close, but no cigar, Shep!
The blunder occurred Thursday when Smith told Fox News viewers "an update from scientists trying to identify the model for Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Mona Lisa,'" Vanity Fair reports. Thanks to social media, this slip up will forever live on the Internet.
Hahahaha! Shepard Smith just said Leonardo DiCaprio painted the Mona Lisa!!!! pic.twitter.com/fFTKFqn4k3
