Show runner and executive producer, Bryan Fuller has been beamed down from the new CBS All Acces series, Star Trek: Discovery.
The openly gay producer known for his previous shows such as Pushing Daisies and Hannibal has stepped down as show runner and the reins have been handed over to executive producers Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts.

“Fuller, who will remain an executive producer, will still be involved in breaking stories, and the show will continue to follow his vision for the universe that this latest Trek series will inhabit,” reports Variety.
Writer-director Akiva Goldsman (Fringe, The Dark Tower) is expected to come on board in a “top creative role.”
Fuller spearheaded the newest Star Trek series, but he was also executive producing two other series at the same time, American Gods for Starz and a reboot of Amazing Stories for NBC—the workload proved too much for the schedule CBS needed to keep for a May 2017 premiere.
Star Trek: Discovery made headlines this past summer when it was announced that the series would feature the first openly gay character in a Trek TV series.
Fuller penned the first two episodes for Discovery and has also laid out the larger mythology for the series—but there is no word yet whether the gay character will suffer from the removal of Fuller.
Star Trek: Discovery will debut on CBS’ streaming platform, All Access in May 2017.
