From: Manhunt Daily
Let’s talk about Ash. He’s a guitarist in an Australian hardcore-ish punk band, although I must confess that he first caught my eye because he’s uber-hunky and his screen name is a song that I really liked when I was thirteen or so. I actually remember hearing it for the first time on Regis and Kathie Lee. No kidding! His band sounds nothing like that.
Anyway, Ash is a really sweet guy, and he’s looking for love. Someone love this man! Preferably, someone who lives on his continent. Love from strangers twelve time zones away probably only goes so far…
So, uh, what brings you here?
I’m after a meaningful long-term relationship. It’s been nearly two years since my last relationship, and I feel I’m ready to share my life with someone and play a part in theirs. No luck so far. Prove me wrong Manhunt, prove me wrong!
Is your screen name a Lemonheads reference? From the name and the Huggy Bear t-shirt in your profile photo, I’m guessing the nineties were a pretty influential time for you.
It is just a Lemonheads reference – there’s no meaning behind it. Usernames are hard, everything’s already taken, so I was literally going through my Spotify playlist and that wasn't taken. The ’90s were a major influential period for me, and I often yearn for them. Just my friends and I driving around, listening to music with nothing else to do. I think it was the most exciting period for music, art, and pop culture in general. My music taste is somewhat restricted to the ’90s as well, even to this day.
Your profile mentions t-shirts, and based on your photos, it looks like you've got an extensive collection of them. Any particular favorites?
Definitely my Huggy Bear shirt and my vintage Plasmatics shirt. They’re super comfy, putting them on is like meeting an old friend again.
[Ed. note: Even the animated version of Ash has the Huggy Bear t-shirt on.]
[Other Ed. note: Huggy Bear was so awesome.]
Speaking of Huggy Bear, tell us about your own band. When I first messaged you, you mentioned recently being in Austin for South By Southwest. Were you performing or just a fan?
I was performing! My band High Tension was there playing a few shows. We played in LA as well, which was a blast. It was all over too soon though, just two weeks spent in California and Texas.
High Tension’s been around for about two years. We have an album and EP out with a record label in Australia and Canada. We were at SXSW to try and find a US label, so we’ll see if anything comes of that. I’ve been in bands for about 15 years in various capacities in various genres of music, but always in the Rock category. I just love the sound of a loud guitar.
You also told me you got sex and drugs out of your system early on. Does that mean you’re all about clean living now?
Definitely not! I moved from Adelaide where I was born to Canberra in 1995 and fell in with the bad crowd. I was smoking and doing drugs when I was 12, and by the time I got to high school, I was doing some pretty idiotic things. By the time I reached my late teens or early twenties, just as my friends were getting into drugs and partying, I went the completely opposite way. I was kind of bored with it all.
I still drink socially and have the odd joint socially, but I don’t touch any of the harder stuff anymore. When it comes to sex, it was much of the same. Lots of anonymous sex which tends to put a toll on your self worth as a teenager. At least now I feel I’m more mentally prepared. So in short, I still drink and have sex. Just in moderation.
As far as traveling for fun, what are your favorite destinations?
Los Angeles! Every time I go there I feel at home. I could easily live there. I also loved Scotland, Glasgow in particular.
And you live in Melbourne, which is a city I’m ashamed to say I know very little about… Tell us something we might not know about Melbourne.
We take our coffee VERY seriously. Single origin, organic, etc. There’s literally a cafe on every street here and where to go for breakfast can sometimes turn into an hour long debate with someone. That, and our public transport system, as troublesome as it can be sometimes, is pretty great.
What’s the most interesting meal you've eaten recently?
I tried Ethiopian cuisine the other day. Horrible. Interesting, but horrible. Wouldn't not repeat. 2/10.
Awwww! I’m a big fan, but I won’t judge. Let’s talk about sex instead. What’s your favorite part of sex?
I think it’s the exploration of what the other person likes. There’s that ritual when you’re having sex with someone for the first time and, without speaking, you’re finding what buttons to press, what they like, what they don’t like. I find it fascinating. I also love it when sex is fun. Smiling, laughing, etc. Really serious sex tends to crack me up, and it’s led to a few people getting offended.
Last question: What is the strangest place that you've ever had an orgasm?
Driving a car. I was getting a hand job, and by the time I came, I think I ran about ten red lights. Not safe and wouldn't recommend.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
....
I work full time at an ad agency and also play in a band part time. I'm lucky that both my work and hobbies provide a creative outlet and an excuse to wear t-shirts to the office.
In my free time I like to travel. I've been to the Middle East, Europe and USA and I just got back from a tour of the USA including SXSW.
Looking for dates and ultimately a LTR. I'm pretty fatigued with the blow'n'go culture so if you can offer something more then great!
