Wednesday night was the 50th annual CMA Awards, so the ceremony that highlights the best that country music has to offer pulled out all the stops with legendary performances from superstars like Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert and Beyonce.
The most prestigious award of the night was given to the queen of country music, Dolly Parton who received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
But before Parton took the stage some of the biggest country stars paid tribute to her with a medley of Parton’s biggest hits.
Pentatonix and Jennifer Nettles covered “Jolene.” Reba McEntire owned “9 to 5” and Kacey Musgraves took on “Here You Come Again.” For the finale all the women joined Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood for an emotional rendition of “I Will Always Love You.”
“I would’ve cried but I didn’t want to mess up my eyelashes,” Parton said as she joined the fellow female singers onstage to collect her award.
We will always love you, Dolly.
