Republicans Officially Nominate Donald Trump For President

And the "Stop Trump" movement dies not with a bang, but a whimper.
From: NewNowNext
Well it’s official: The Republican Party is nominating Donald Trump for president.

In a long and tedious process, delegates from all 50 states declared their allegiances in a roll-call vote, with Trump all-but-guaranteed to hit the magic number of 1,237 at some point.

It’s the end of the Stop Trump movement splinter movement, but members of the Virginia delegation stayed away from the convention floor, opting to have a caucus meeting instead.

Delegates from DC reportedly left the room, as well.

The speakers last night include heavyweights in the party: Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, who has been tepid in his support for the reality-star candidate.

In fact, his speech  focused on how bad a Hillary presidency would be, not how good a Trump one would be. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell jumped on the Kill Hill bandwagon, too. Ben Christie and Gov. Chris Christie, both of whom lost to Trump in the primary spoke as well.

Don’t worry—there were“celebrities,” too—like UFC President Dana White and pro
golfer/Celebrity Apprentice contestant Natalie Gulbis.

And of course there’s family: Donald Trump Jr. (son of Ivana) and half-sister Tiffany Trump (daughter of Marla Maples) tried to paint a compassionate picture of their father as a family man.

Tonight, Mike Pence will accept the vice presidential nomination, and then on Thursday, Donald J. Trump will officially accept the Republican Party nomination for president.

Still can’t believe I’m writing those words.
