The NYPD is still searching for an assailant who beat a gay man while yelling homophobic slurs on a D train in the Bronx earlier this month.
The New York Daily News reports the 48-year-old victim suffered a broken nose in the attack, after the assailant shoved the victim down a few steps, kicked him in the head, and punched him in the face.
“You faggots are making me sick,” the man reportedly yelled as he launched an attack on the victim.
The victim would not speak with the News when reached for comment, but neighbors recalled seeing him with bruises around his eyes earlier this month.
“Somebody pushed him down the stairs from behind and started beating on his face,” said the man’s next-door-neighbor. “He’s black and blue all around his eyes.”
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force confirmed it was investigating the report, though no suspects have been named.
The assault happened just a month after a trans woman recorded a homophobe viciously assaulting her while yelling transphobic slurs on a New York City subway, all while bystanders stood by and watched.
Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton left a comment on the video expressing her contempt for intolerance: “Every single person deserves to be safe and live free from discrimination and cruelty,” she said.
