21-year-old Indiana native Clark Bockelman was studying at the University of Denver when, as every model dreams, he was discovered by Bruce Weber—a name Clark hadn’t heard before, but would come to know well. Two days later, the young model was shooting his first editorial with the legendary fashion photographer.
Featured in a recent piece in the New York Times style section covering Calvin Klein’s New York casting for the brand’s Milan men’s wear show, Clark stood out as a shoo-in against
the competition. Right next to getting discovered by a renowned photographer, booking a Calvin Klein runway show (or even better yet, a campaign), is practically the golden ticket to launching a career in modeling.
With his all-American looks and broad aesthetic appeal, Clark’s endurance in the industry seems all but assured. Kicking off his career with high brow press coverage certainly doesn’t hurt either. Weber and other fashion insiders point to the model’s resemblance to 1950s Hollywood stars as part of his magnetic appeal. Of course, we think his remarkable underwear modeling skills have something to do with it too.
