The legendary Elton John was rumored to be playing at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony in January, much to the anger of many fans. However, the music icon’s reps were quick to put that rumor to rest.
The rumors began when a member of Trump’s transition team, Anthony Scaramucci, announced it on BBC HARDtalk this week. Scaramucci divulged into his gay rights activism over the years and claimed that, “this will be the first American president in US history that will enter the White House with a pro-gay rights stance. Elton John is gonna be doing our concert for the inauguration.”

Besides everything that’s wrong with claiming this is the first time a president will be entering the White House with a pro-LGBT stance (Hey Mike Pence! How are you?) the New York Times is reporting that Elton John’s reps have denied he will be performing for Trump.
Earlier this year when the Trump campaign used John’s signature song “Tiny Dancer,” the singer proclaimed: “I’m not a Republican in a million years. Why not ask Ted fucking Nugent?.”
This wouldn’t be the first time the Trump campaign lied in an effort to appeal to the masses, but seems like they’re getting a little desperate.
