Decorated Olympic diver Chris Mears found out this week that he qualified for the 2016 Olympics, and will compete with Team GB once again when the games kick off in Rio de Janeiro in August.
To celebrate, the 23-year-old part-time DJ/producer stopped by BBC Radio 1 in London for an interview and a rousing game of Innuendo Bingo, the station’s long-running game where celebrities battle VJs to see who can hold a cup of water in their mouth the longest while listening to sexual innuendos from the week in pop culture.
Both Mears and Scott Mills opted to play in their “work clothes,” so naturally, Chris sat nearly naked through the 10-minute competition, sporadically getting sprayed by Mills’ backwash.
“It’s probably a little bit more [strange] for you than for me,” Chris said in response to the obligatory jokes about the awkward contrast in outfits. “I’m fairly comfortable in seeing you in a hoodie and jeans — you look great.”
Last month on The Graham Norton Show, Mears’ Team GB teammate Tom Daley revealed why their Speedos are so small.
“Well everything has to stay in place. If you’re spinning around the last thing you want to do is have something come out of place,” he explained. “And when you hit the water you don’t want things flapping about because it would hurt.”
