Trans Man Featured In Latest THINX Period Underwear Ad

"We thought it was high time that people see a menstruating trans man 10-feet tall in the subway."
From: NewNowNext
THINX, the underwear company specializing in period-proof panties, just launched a new campaign designed to destigmatize menstruation, and they just hired trans model Sawyer DeVuyst to help them do it.

The images of the models in the ads will be flipped on their sides or upside down to symbolize THINX’s effort to shift “the perspective on periods,” and the unique campaign will mark the first time an ad for a menstruation product features a trans man.

The company’s CEO, Miki Agrawal, said including DeVuyst was a significant part of the campaign, as they are also attempting to make people aware that menstruation isn’t just an issue facing women.

“We thought it was high time that people see a menstruating trans man 10-feet tall in the subway,” Agrawal said.

“We’re hoping this is another step in normalizing periods in the public sphere,” she continued about the company, which already sells boy short period underwear for men. “Just as with any of our other campaigns, it’s going to be a little jarring to have it plastered all over somewhere as bustling as Union Square, but that’s what it takes to break taboos.”
