A few weeks ago Frozen fans started an online petition to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend in the upcoming sequel to the Disney animated blockbuster. Now the voice of Elsa herself, Idina Menzel has voiced her support of the campaign.
“I think it’s great,” Menzel told Entertainment Tonight at the Billboard Music Awards red carpet on Sunday. “Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”
Teaching kids (and adults too) that love is love would be wonderful @Disney #GiveElsaAGirlfriendhttps://t.co/KAdl7kPtzN— thewisdomtooth (@thewisdomtooth) May 1, 2016
LGBT fans of Frozen connected with Elsa’s story line of feeling shame over being different and finally learning to find pride in being special, even turning her show-stopping number “Let It Go” into an LGBT anthem.

“No matter what,” Menzel added, playing Elsa has “changed my life.”
