Britain’s Got Talent continued to deliver the goods in an episode that aired Saturday, featuring a hunky shirtless acrobat showing off his talent by swinging across the stage.
The French stud, Charlie Placais, walked out on stage shirtless and barefoot wearing nothing but a pair of jeans. After introducing himself, he fell backward into a tub of water before wrapping himself into a hanging silk for a performance that highlighted his insane upper body strength.
Placais’ performance was as well-received as the throngs of other shirtless men who’ve performed on the show recently, though one of the judge’s reactions to it reportedly prompted outrage within the gay community.
According to The Mirror, gays were tweeting up a firestorm after the segment aired in response to judge David Walliams “pretending to be gay.”
Walliams’ sexuality is a running gag on the show, since he’s usually the one giving rave reviews to any hunky-looking gent who walks out on stage sans shirt. Immediately following Placais’ performance, judge Simon Cowell skipped over Walliams during final remarks with the implication that the audience already knew what he was going to say.
In response to the joking slight, Walliams leapt out of his seat and chased the half-naked acrobat backstage to get a hug.
“The lecherous predatory sleazebag act David Walliams does is unfunny, repugnant, insulting,” one person tweeted. “It’s defamatory & a bad impression for gay youth.”
