“Landslide”
Fleetwood Mac
When Stevie Nicks and whatsisface joined Fleetwood Mac, her first two contributions to the group were “Rhiannon” and “Landslide.” “Rhiannon” would become a hit, but “Landslide” was never released as a single. But time would eventually bring “Landslide” the iconic status it deserved.
It was released as a single as part of the live reunion album The Dance, reaching #51 in 1998, and since that performance 20 years ago (still one of the most affecting moments I’ve ever seen on a concert stage, and can still bring a tear to my eye), “Landslide” has been covered by too many artists to count, including Tori Amos, Miley Cyrus, Smashing Pumpkins, Paramore, Lady Antebellum, Glee, and of course, The Dixie Chicks, whose version finally gave it top ten status, peaking at #7 in 2002.
