Queen of Country Dolly Parton was a guest on Larry King’s online talk show, Larry King Now to promote her newest album Pure & Simple. Aside from music the living legend spoke on other topics like her husband, politics and her support of the LGBT community.
“I keep saying, ‘If you’re the fine Christian that you think you are, why are you judging people?’ That’s God’s job,” she explained to King when he asked about push back from religious groups on her acceptance of LGBT people. “We’re not God, we’re not judges, we’re supposed to love one another, we’re supposed to not judge.”
“I just think that we should be more loving, more caring. We are who we are,” Parton said. “If you’re gay, you’re gay. If you’re straight, you’re straight. And you should be allowed to be how you are and who you are.”
Parton also gives some details on how a 9 to 5 reunion with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin might happen on Grace and Frankie. She reveals that she will probably appear as herself and Grace and Frankie will go see her in concert in one of the episodes. “We’re gonna get me on there!”
Watch the entire interview below and stay to hear whether Parton believes in aliens and her story about the time someone left a baby named Jolene in a basket on her doorstep! It’s true!
