Pita Taufatofua, the beautiful Tonga flag bearer who quenched the thirst of millions when he walked into the Olympic Opening Ceremony, showed off his glistening muscles again on the Today show.
Speaking with Al Roker, 32-year-old professional taekwondo athlete revealed the coconut oil he was slathered in is actually a cultural tradition, as was the straw ta’ovala (Tongan mat) he had wrapped around his torso.
“It was crazy. It was 20 years worth of work to get me there,” Taufatofua told Roker. “It was sort of surreal, hard to describe. It’s a crazy feeling.”
Taufatofua appeared to have more to say but the interview cut quickly, as three ravenous female co-hosts including Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, were anxious to get their hands on him.
