The anti-LGBT mayor of Stockton, California was arrested Thursday morning at his youth camp in Amador County on several reported charges involving at least one minor and a game of strip poker.
Anthony Silva, a “family-values” Republican who has held official town hall meetings at an anti-gay megachurch, was reportedly arrested on multiple charges, including secretly recording a male teen playing strip poker in the mayor’s bedroom at a summer camp.
The arrest follows a September 2015 FBI investigation in which Homeland Security investigators took the 41-year-old’s cell phone, which contained audio of several people recorded during the strip poker game.
Silva, who is also being accused of providing alcohol to underage counselors of the camp, has been under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct in the past.
The mayor was accused of secretly taping male teens in the bathroom of his apartment when he was a high school water polo coach back in 2004, but charges were never filed.
In addition to the incidents at the camp, it was revealed this week that a gun used in a drive-by shooting that killed a 13-year-old boy in Stockton was actually registered to Silva.
The murder took place in February 2015, but wasn’t reported stolen until March 2015, despite Silva claiming he reported it stolen as soon as he knew it was gone.
The mayor is currently out of jail after posting $20,000 bail.
