Harvey Fierstein is being honored at this year’s Logo Trailblazers Honors, so to celebrate one of theater’s greats here’s a scene from the 1988 movie adaptation of his hit Broadway play, Torch Song Trilogy.
The film follows Arnold (Fierstein), a drag queen who over the course of a decade deals with love and loss, and tries to reunite with his estranged mother- played by Anne Bancroft.
Watch Fierstein and Bancroft duke it out in an emotional scene where they confront one another about their past, and the homophobia that still lingers in the family:
Watch Trailblazer Honors on June 25 at 8/7c on Logo and VH1.
