World’s First Successful Penis Transplant Patient To Father A Child
A young South African man who was the world’s first successful penis transplant recipient last December has impregnated his girlfriend, according to the doctor who led the surgery.
The 22-year-old man, who underwent a 9-hour transplant operation performed at Tygerberg Hospital in Bellville, Cape Town, was sexually active five weeks later. His penis had been amputated three years ago after a botched circumcision performed during a traditional African rite. The patient is among around 250 South Africans who lose their penises each year in botched traditional circumcisions.
