Fire Island Photos: Belvedere Guest House

From:  The Underwear Expert
Earlier this month, we invited you to one of Daniel Nardicio’s famous Dworld Underwear parties in Fire Island. But, what happens after a night of partying? We’re thinking a day of relaxing, and what better place to relax and lounge around in your underwear than at the Belvedere Guest House. In an exclusive shoot for The Underwear Expert, Cyle Suez and a group of models took to the famous getaway for an underwear photo shoot featuring 2(x)ist, Calvin Klein, and Hugo Boss underwear.

The Belvedere Guest House is a legendary landmark in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, NY. Within this lavish Venetian reconstruction, lies a tumultuous and fun history. In the 1950s, the Belvedere Guest House was established as a private residence for artist John Eberhardt. The 1950s were a different time for Fire Island. It wasn’t as established as it is now, and there were more
trees there than people. The Belvedere Guest House was small in nature compared to what it is now.

John began to take in guests as a result of the 1956 burning of Duffy’s, which was Fire Islands only hotel at the time. As the gay scene grew around The Belvedere Guest House and as John fell in love with his then partner Craig, John and Craig expanded the Belvedere Guest House into what it is today. The two would split in the 90s and go their separate ways. John maintained the property until his health got bad. That’s when Craig stepped back in 2003 to reenergize the property with his partner Julian Dorcelien.

The Venetian look of the place lends itself to greek/roman themed parties; the Belvedere Guest House has been home for many of
these over the years. These have included 1993′s Toga Tea Party and 2009′s Bana Belvedere: The Last Day of Pompeii.

Check out some of our models enjoying an afternoon lounging at the Belvedere Guest House in the gallery below and check into the Belvedere Guest House on your next Fire Island excursion.
