The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons tied the knot with his partner of 14 years Todd Spiewak in a private ceremony over the weekend.
The actor and graphic designer were married Saturday night at New York City’s Rainbow Room, Parsons’ rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The pair started dating in 2002, though Parsons wouldn’t officially come out until 2012 when an article in The New York Times said that his role in the stage production of The Normal Heart resonated with him because he was gay.
The couple first appeared on a red carpet together in 2013 when Parsons received the Inspiration Award from GLSEN. While the actor was proud of the honor, he later acknowledged that he’d never though of his relationship with Spiewak as something revolutionary.
“I’ve never considered myself an activist,” Parsons told E! Online at the time. “I’ve never considered my relationship with Todd to be an act of activism. Rather simply, it’s an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs [out]—a regular life, boring love.”
While he and Spiewak have kept their relationship out of the public eye, Parsons did take to Instagram this past November to commemorate their 14th anniversary.
“I met this guy (the one with the mic) 14 years ago today and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest,” he wrote. “One of his greatest gifts to me is that he no longer takes me to sing karaoke.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
