19 Inspiring Trans People-Currently In Sports-You Should Know About

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility
From: OutSports
Trans people are everywhere in sports:
athletes, coaches, officials, members of the sports media.
The history of trans people in sports goes back for at least the better part of a century. On today’s Trans Day of Visibility, we wanted to highlight the names and accomplishments of just some of the trans people who are currently in sports, whether they are an athlete, coach, official or member of the sports media.

This list of trans people in sports isn’t by any means entirely comprehensive. There are countless trans people playing, coaching and writing about sports. There are also incredible trailblazers — like Renee Richards, Fallon Fox, Kye Allums, Jazz Jennings and Harrison Browne — who are no longer focusing on their career in sports but who have also blazed a trail for trans equality, along with these 19 inspiring people below.

The list also includes a wide range of gender identity, including those who identify as trans, transgender, genderqueer, genderfluid, non-binary and other identities along the spectrum.

We encourage you to click on the links of their names and explore the inspirational lives and careers of these trans people in sports.

Stephen Alexander has opened hearts and minds.

A multisport high school coach in rural Rhode Island, Alexander now lives and works in the same town where he was a successful high school athlete. He’s changing how residents in this quiet corner of New England view trans people.
