RuPaul Got Real About The 2016 Election

"If you're in politics you're dirty. It's not a bad thing, its just the way it is."
From: NewNowNext
It was the year of everyone talking about the presidential election, even RuPaul.

In an interview on the set of Drag Race, Ru sat down with Entertainment Tonight and the conversation turned to politics when they asked him his thoughts on the race for the White House.

“In this election the most important thing you have to remember is you have got to vote,” Ru reminded the children thinking about skipping out voting this year. “If you don’t vote you lose the right to complain.”

He also shared his thoughts on how he thinks politics is an inherently filthy business. “A person who gets into politics is a different animal… having said that all politicians are pretty dirty. If you’re in politics you’re dirty, it’s not a bad thing, it’s just the way it is. It’s the way the game is played.”

Ru had called Hillary Clinton “fucking awesome” and he stands by his remark—pointing out that any woman or minority that makes it ahead in any industry “is an act of badassness because there is so much stacked against you in a white male dominated culture. It’s not a read, just the way it is.”

So if if you skipped out on voting November 8, you’re thinking of skipping any future elections, just think of Mama Ru:
