During the holidays, there are many movies we love, some are great blockbusters, some are family favorites and now we have gay themed ones too! Here’s a list of our top ten in no particular order!
Shared Rooms by Rob Williams, explores the meaning of home and family through three interrelated stories of gay men finding connections during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Those who know me know that I am partial to a good musical, and my favorite Christmas musical is White Christmas, with music by Irving Berlin and starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. It’s a classic Hollywood treatment with big song and dance numbers as well as comedy and schmaltz. It’s perfect for everyone!
Many people consider Die Hard is the best non-Christmas Christmas movie, it’s a great action movie set at Christmas time, with Bruce Willis in his ripped tee-shirt!
For the best black and white Christmas movie, it has to be It’s A Wonderful Life starring James Stewart. This is one of those movies that has grown over time, with critics originally thinking it too sweet. It’s now the staple, of all of our Christmases.
New to me this year, is A Christmas Story, set in the 1940’s and about a small boy desperate to convince his parents to get him a BB gun! It’s a delightful movie but doesn’t pretend that every Christmas is perfect. Watch it and you will understand.
In Elf, we see Will Ferrel as the over keen, over sized and over excited Santa’s Helper! Enjoy it for the silliness
When it comes to Christmas Movies even the terminator had to do one! Jingle All The Way sees Arnie doing everything he can to find the must-have gift for his child at Christmas!
Now for the big man himself! You know we love a good beard, but the best beard of all is on Santa and this movie is one of our favorites! The Santa Clause with Tim Allen. So good they made two sequels!
Have a magical Christmas!
