"We're still one people."From: NewNowNext
Our country seems more divided than ever this holiday season, but both President Obama and President-elect Trump sent out Thanksgiving messages in an attempt to unite us for at least one day.
“As a country, we’ve just emerged from a noisy, passionate and sometimes divisive campaign season,” President Obama said in his final Thanksgiving address as POTUS. “Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter our differences, we’re still one people — part of something bigger than ourselves.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump continued to avoid speaking to the national press and delivered his Thanksgiving message in the best way he knows how — via Twitter.
“It’s my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country strengthened by shared purpose and very, very common resolve,” Trump said.
Let us give thanks for all that we have, and let us boldly face the exciting new frontiers that lie ahead. Happy Thanksgiving. pic.twitter.com/yH6LYdS2ts— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 24, 2016
