Pete Burns, lead singer of the 80s New Wave band Dead or Alive, has passed away at the age of 57 from a massive heart attack. His manager broke the news on Burns’ Twitter page today.

His band topped the pop charts in the U.S with the 1985 hit “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record).”
And struck gold again in 1987 with 1987’s “Brand New Lover.”
In later years he became known for blurring gender lines and undergoing extreme plastic surgery. In 2006, he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, finishing in fifth place.
He recounted his experiences under the knife in Pete Burns’ Cosmetic Surgery Nightmares for Great Britain’s ITV network.
He spoke about the issue with ABC News in 2010.
