It’s been nearly 27 years to the day that Whitney Houston dropped her Emmy-winning song “One Moment in Time” for the 1988 summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
The legendary singer would have been 53 years old today, and even though she’s not with us in body anymore, her legacy lives on in the countless iconic performances she gave at major events while the entire world would was watching — from the national anthem at the Super Bowl to “I Have Nothing” in South Africa, and even the beautiful live set below.
Conceived as an Olympic anthem, Houston’s “One Moment in Time” was accompanied by a music video montage featuring iconic winning moments in Olympic history.
The following year, she performed the song live at the Grammys, where she was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.
