“The thing abut the nude image is that people tend to become confronted by their emotions about sex when they see it.”
That’s photographer and publisher Christopher Schultz, the man who just spent the last decade producing twenty issues of his iconic gay zine Pinups.
“It can be primal,” he tells VICE. “It’s always an extreme reaction, whether they’re excited by it or want to run from it.”
Schultz’s models almost always buck traditional notions of male beauty, as demonstrated in this collection of outtakes and personal faves, which he allowed VICE to publish this week in order to commemorate what’s destined to be its last-ever issue.
