Some of the best MTV shows from the ’90s and ’00s are coming back to the airwaves on the all-new MTV Classic channel.
The lineup of vintage shows includes Total Request Live, MTV Unplugged, Laguna Beach, and The Real World, as well as animated classics like Beavis and Butt-Head, Aeon Flux, and Daria.
The new channel is set to launch on Monday, August 1, which is 35 years to the day after MTV debuted in 1981.
To celebrate the historic anniversary, MTV Classic’s first hour of programming will “replicate the first hour of programming in MTV’s history — after a spaceship took flight, a series of VJs took the stage to discuss the idea behind a network devoted to music,” US Weekly reports.
For fans without a TV, the experience will also streamed live on MTV’s Facebook page.
“From Beavis & Butt-Head to Laguna Beach, MTV’s programming vault is a music and pop-culture gold mine with universal resonance,” MTV president Sean Atkins said in a statement.
“MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and — alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU — rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core.”
