Nyle DiMarco Scores Perfect “30” With Emotional Freestyle On “Dancing With The Stars” Finale

From: NewNowNext
Nyle DiMarco stunned Dancing With the Stars viewers during part 1 of the 22nd season finale Monday night with an intensely emotional freestyle dance to the classic Simon & Garfunkel song “The Sound Of Silence,” performed by Disturbed.

The deaf America’s Next Top Model winner has blown the judges and a national audience away this season, performing near-flawless routines week after week despite not being able to hear or feel the music.

The incredible performance, complete with a literal flaming piano, earned DiMarco and his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd a perfect “30” score from the judges. Carrie Ann Inaba, who was reduced to tears, remarked that it was “in 22 seasons…the best dance I’ve ever seen.”

“I think every week I’m able to bring my story out, and tonight it was really a personal story,” DiMarco told Us Weekly after the show. “The deaf community really goes through a lot, and I’m really trying to explain how to raise a deaf child, but we keep being ignored.”

He added: “I’m happy that we were able to make it happen. There are 70 million deaf people in the world and only two percent have access to education and sign language. Seventy-five percent of parents don’t sign to their deaf kids. So that’s a serious thing, and I’m trying to get people to hear us out.”
