“Red Right Hand”
Nick Cave
Australian alternative artist Nick Cave and his band The Bad Seeds have been recording for over 30 years, but have never hit the U.S. singles chart (and they didn’t have a charting album until 1997), but have amassed an enormous cult following over the years.
The 1994 single “Red Right Hand” was a chart flop around the world (it only charted in two places, the Australian chart at #62, and the UK chart at #68) but this creepy, nightmarish tale has been utilized to great effect in pop culture, including one of the most memorable episodes of The X-Files, and it became the theme song of the Scream film series. More recently, a cover version is used as the opening theme for the UK series Peaky Blinders
