Brazilian actors Bruno Gagliasso and Joao Vicente de Castro kissed on live television to protest homophobia.
Gagliasso and De Castro, both straight, smooched at the GQ Men of the Year Awards at the Copacabana Palace in Rio on Thursday.
On Instagram, Gagliasso said the kiss went out to “macho card-carriers, hypocritical and prejudiced,” to show them there’s nothing wrong with “affection and love” for another man.
“It was a kiss of hope, of love,” Gagliasso, 33, told Quem (Who). “[It was] to show that we are working against intolerance, small-mindedness and hypocrisy.”
Gagliasso, who has long been supportive of the LGBT community, played a gay character, Roberto, on the soap opera América.
