I try to always be thankful each and every day of my life but sometimes you get caught up in what is not going 100% the way you want, that you forget.
Let me take the time to share a few things I am thankful for today:
I am thankful that today is day 5 of 5 days off in a row that I got this week. I have spent most of it offline getting things done, visiting family, and celebrating my anniversary.
Tuesday was Marc and I's 14 year anniversary. How I ended up with such a patient and understanding man in unknown to me but I am thankful.
I am thankful for the past 8 1/2 years of this blog. Although it is the right time to end it, I will never forget the memories, long hours, history changing updates and conversations, and most importantly the connections I have made with so many of you.
I am thankful for my health. After losing most of my family in the past few years (I am the last living member on my fathers side) it made me reflect more on what is important. I truly try to live each day the best that I can and I take more chances and am open to new experiences like never before. I have gone from a cynical man in his 40's to an open minded man who is ready to remain open to all that life may bring his way.
I am grateful for the amazing strides that have been made for gay people in the past few years. Historic, epic, life changing strides.
I am thankful for my amazing friends who many have been by my side, many since I was 18-20 years old.
I am thankful for my dogs Desi and Bella. They give me a reason to walk that extra mile, to throw the ball one more time, and they lick my tears on days where I feel a little overwhelmed.
I am thankful that at 44 years old I have been able to forgive my younger self for mistakes made, and enjoy the man my current self has become.
Wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
In Pride,
David
