Nick Jonas, the JoBro who seems to have built an entire career of being an ‘everything butt’ sort of tease, talked to USA Today t about his roles in both Scream Queens and Kingdom. While the jury is still out on Scream Queens (I’m waiting for a few so I can binge watch ’em all at once), Kingdom presents another diversion entirely. The premise is a little -eh- to me (family-run MMA gym with MMA fighters and whatever problems they have), but I’m intrigued as the wee baby Jonas plays Nate Kulina, an upcoming fighter who is “secretly bisexual…”
OK. I would believe that this modern day George Michael impersonator can play “secretly bisexual.” Tell me more, Jonas:
With ‘Kingdom’, my character is going through a really different journey where he’s struggling with who he is. I think that’s a highly relatable story line that a lot of my fans, both gay and straight, have come and told me that that’s been incredibly important for them: to see the journey he’s on and to know they’re not alone, whatever it is that they’re going through in their life that makes them feel different or strange. There’s real peace and a community and a story being told that feels honest and grounded.
This kid is a media pro, and I’ll be damned if I can find fault with this quote. Good on you, Jonas, for hoping that little gay kids can take something away from you being “secretly bisexual.”
I predict (read: pray) Nick will eventually reveal himself to be “secretly bisexual,” but till that day, we’ll have to tide ourselves over with these pics* from last year, and some imagination.
