Farmers' Consumer Awareness Day: one of Washington's most unique events takes place the second weekend in September in the Quincy Valley. The festival, FCAD was started in Quincy back in 1981 when a local farmer heard a woman tell Paul Harvey on the radio that the world should just get rid of farmer and get their food at the grocery store. This sparked the desire of local farmers to educate the consumer on where their food comes from. FCAD is a unique festival and has been a source of community pride for over couple of decades. It is a time to learn about a quality, rural lifestyle and gain appreciation for agriculture and our farmers, while enjoying time with the family. Activities on this day include product sale, fun run, parade, guided tours of industry warehouses and fields, food and craft booths, kid's games and a petting zoo, tractor pull, car show, quilt show, and festival entertainment throughout the day.
