Republican Candidate George Pataki Says He Would Have Fired Kim Davis

The subject of Kim Davis came up pretty quickly at tonight’s Republican presidential debate, and some of the candidates’ opinions were rather surprising.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was the first to bring up Davis in the early round of tonight’s debates, which features only the bottom four candidates.

Jindal declared that discrimination against anti-gay Christians was the biggest form of discrimination facing America today.

“They’re throwing this woman in jail in Kentucky?” Jindal said in disgust, leading the crowd to applaud. “Let’s talk about that!”

Sen. Lindsey Graham chimed in, saying he is worried about an attack from radical Islamic terrorists, not Kim Davis.

But in a refreshing twist, former New York Gov. George Pataki took a strong stance against the infamous Kentucky clerk.

“An elected official can’t say, ‘I’m not going to follow that law if it conflicts with my beliefs,'” Pataki said. “I think she should have been fired and if she had worked for me, I would have fired her.”

He went on to say, “There is a place where the religion supersedes the rule of law. It’s called Iran. It shouldn’t be the United States.”
