Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin turns 39 today, and has spent the last five seasons on CBS’ Hawaii-Five-0 as Steve McGarrett, forever shipped with cop partner Danno (Scott Caan). Because the show takes place in, well, Hawaii, his uniform is often skimpy, at best.

But for this edition of Birthday Eye Candy, let’s go back in time a few years to when Alex’s wardrobe was even more breathable.
Whiteout was a 2009 murder thriller that opened to disastrous reviews and even worse box office, but the Kate Beckinsale vehicle did feature Alex in a supporting role as tattooed biologist Russell.
We’re introduced to Russell and some of his co-workers in the film’s only interesting scene, which becomes even more interesting played on a continuous loop. (Russell is the second one flopping by)

Is it just me, or does he have the biggest sock? Here’s another (albeit blurred) look.
Here’s an interview (with co-star Gabriel Macht), in which Alex talks about how “humbling” the experience was, and how quickly extremities can freeze.
