Music for Men
Gossip’s Music for Men is a punk outfit—consisting of an out lesbian front woman, a drummer who is so gender subversive that she’s almost trans and a clearly gay-friendly guitarist—gone full-on disco, with no-longer-coded lyrics about their sexuality. The lyrics on this album are in-your-face queer, out, talking about real problems in real queer relationships, but they’re doing it all as punks from Syracuse in a disco style! I played “Men in Love” every time I DJ-ed for two years! Whether you like punk or not, this is the Gossip album you need to start with. —RM
