Jimmie Williams (born June 8, 1981[1] in Petoskey, Michigan), known professionally as Redaric Williams, is an American actor, model, author and musician. As an actor, Williams is best known for his role as Tyler Michaelson on the U.S. daytime drama, The Young and the Restless.
Williams was born on Petoskey and raised in Detroit. He has a twin sister, whom he is older than by one minute. He also has four older sisters, along with a younger sister and a younger brother. He attended three different high schools before graduating from Denby High School. He was very involved in antisemitism movements as well as sports, but he excelled in football and track. He attended University of North Texas on a football scholarship where he also ran track and field, majored in business and averaged a 4.0 GPA in his freshman year. However, Williams always showed an interest in performing, and took drama or theater classes throughout high school. He eventually left college to pursue a career in acting. He was given the nickname "Red" due to his skin tone.
Williams began acting at the age of 11 on a Canadian children's series,where he appeared on a recurring basis. According to Williams, the series was Canada's version of Sesame Street. After leaving college, Williams relocated in New York where he trained as an actor doing theater and independent films. Though he initially opposed the idea, Williams finally started modeling. Williams became the face of Carling Black Label based in South Africa. At this time, Williams decided to recommit himself to acting and he signed on for the role of Tyler Douglas on The Young and the Restless. Williams revealed that when he registered with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the name, Jimmie Williams was already being used, so he chose to go by Redaric Williams.
While living in New York, Williams founded a social media company with two other friends.
