Guy Pearce And Mary Louise-Parker Join ABC’s Gay Rights Miniseries

Talk about Must-See TV.
From: NewNowNext
When We Rise, ABC’s upcoming gay rights miniseries has added two new actors to its growing cast. Guy Pearce and Mary Louise-Parker have joined the television event that, according to TV Guide, “tells the tale of a family of individuals that helped pioneer one of the last legs of the LGBT movement of the 20th century.”

The epic eight-part series will be written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, and executive produced by Gus Van Sant. Pearce and Louise-Parker join Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under), Charlie Carver (Teen Wolf), Carrie Preston (The Good Wife) and others in the series that chronicles the gay rights movement beginning with the Stonewall riots in 1969.

“It’s been the honor of my life to research and craft these stories of family, diversity and equality over the past three years,” Black said in a press release. “To have collaborators of this caliber sign on to help bring these stories to life is a tremendous vote of confidence, and I hope a testament to the relevancy and necessity of our continued march toward justice for all.”

This isn’t the first LGBT miniseries Louise-Parker has acted in. She was part of the ensemble in HBO’s adaptation of Angels in America, in which she won the Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her role.

When We Rise is expected to air in 2017 on ABC.
