15 Gay TV Shows That Bombed

Some of My Best Friends
Eager to duplicate the success of Will and Grace, CBS turned the 1997 indie movie Kiss Me, Guido into a TV show with Jason Bateman and Danny Nucci playing a gay guy and a walking Italian stereotype who wind up as roommates.

Even a post-Everyone Loves Raymond time slot and Alec Mapa in a very Jack McFarland-ish role couldn’t save the show from cancellation after just five episodes.

Elizabeth Taylor

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, DBE (February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011) was a British-American actress. From her early years as a child star with MGM, she became one of the greatest screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age. As one of the world's most famous film stars, Taylor was recognized as much for her acting ability as for her glamorous lifestyle, beauty, and distinctive dark blue eyes, which famously appeared to be violet.

Taylor's screen debut was in the film National Velvet (1944) at the age of 12, as her career grew she would later go on to star in such films as Father of the Bride (1950), A Place in the Sun (1951), Giant (1956), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Motion Picture Drama . She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for BUtterfield 8 (1960), played the title role in Cleopatra (1963), and famously married her co-star Richard Burton leaving her husband of five years Eddie Fisher for him. They appeared together in 11 films, including Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966), for which Taylor won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress and her second Academy Award for Best Actress. From the mid-1970s, she appeared less frequently in film, and made occasional appearances in television and theatre.

Her much-publicized personal life consisted of eight marriages, seven husbands (she married Burton twice) and several life-threatening illnesses throughout her extraordinary career. From the mid-1980s, Taylor championed HIV and AIDS programs; she co-founded the American Foundation for AIDS Research in 1985, and The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991. She received the Presidential Citizens Medal, the Legion of Honour, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and a Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute, who named her seventh on their list of the greatest female stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema. Taylor died from congestive heart failure in March 2011 at the age of 79, having suffered many years of ill health.

Favorite Pic of the Day for October 27th

Classic Television - Prime Time

The Don Knotts Show
Original channel
Original run
15 September 1970 – 6 July 1971
Presented by
Don Knotts
The Don Knotts Show was a variety program aired by NBC as part of its 1970-71 lineup.
Long relegated to the role of sidekick, which he had portrayed for many years in several television series and films, Don Knotts was the headliner here. Each week, he and his guests put on standard TV variety fare of the era. Two recurring features were a skit about the effort involved in putting a weekly television series on the air, much in the spirit of The Jack Benny Show, and The Front Porch, in which Don and a guest would sit in rocking chairs and quietly discuss their philosophies of life. Notable regulars in his cast included Elaine Joyce and Gary Burghoff, who had previously portrayed "Radar O'Reilly" in the film version of M*A*S*H and was about to achieve his greatest fame in reprising that role for the television version of it.

OK, so you're a photographer, and your focus... the male form You have a studio booked and you have the incredibly hot Cody coming in, ready to take off all of his clothing and get naked and pose for your creative ideas and concepts. Would most choose to shoot Cody as a Gladiator and a Football fan?

I am not sure any other photographer of the male form would have chosen photographed the incredible Cody this way, I am not sure any really could. I can only imagine, (and lets all stop...and do just that) all of the ways, poses and scenarios many photographers would have Cody be a part of. Given those incredible muscles, I am sure many would photograph him flexing and posing in some classic fitness and physique stances.

Given Cody's man enticing assets, I can only imagine some of the other suggestions coming his way for shots. It's not that JayBee doesn't appreciate those assets, he captured them perfectly. JayBee however, doesn't focus on them, instead he uses them, along with Cody's personality to create fun, unique and erotically charged images that not evoke both erotic stimulation and enthusiastic joy.
This combination, joy with stimulation and of course creativity and storytelling is one of the reasons JayBee's work is so special. I have talked before how I dabbled in photography before giving it up for my current career. Mostly friends weddings, friends kids and friends pets. If I had continued and pursued shooting the male form, I would like to think I would be creating images as creatively outstanding as JayBee's.

I can't help but think that JayBee's excitement at discussing his concept with Cody, then showing him the Gladiator outfit and football hat and scarf would be welcoming to a model, especially one about to get naked. I would think it would be comforting to have an artist wanting to create something, a character or a story. I would think it would be welcomed more than what nude models must hear often, 'Can you bend over or make it look a bit bigger.' I am thinking of a changing careers in the next year and am hoping I might get find out for myself. I have a big old barn that someone keeps telling me needs to be photographed.

Ben Carson Trumps Trump In New National Poll

From: Wicked Gay
One day ahead of the next GOP debate, Ben Carson has taken the lead in a national poll for the first time. Business Insider reports: While volatility is expected in primary polls, this latest development is notable because of how completely Trump has dominated such surveys since the summer, when he rocketed to the top. Full story here!

WGB :: You would think I would be more excited about this, but I am not. Ben Carson has a major touch of the cray-cray and I think he would be worse than Trump as President. Did I just admit that?

20 Bear and Daddy Boyfriends

From: Tales of West Hollywood
Guys who are over 40 (called Bears or Daddies, depending on their shape) have a lot to offer.  They are comfortable in the gay community, not newly out and scared.  They have cars, swimming pools, theater tickets, all the material possessions that turn a date from mediocre to spectacular.  And they know their way around a bedroom.

But when I lived in West Hollywood, it was against social norms to be seen with anyone more than about 5 years older or younger.  And after I turned 40 myself, I was cruised by so many twinks that the older guys were sort of left out of the equation.

But still, I've had some memorable boyfriends and hookups who were 20+ years older than me.

Augustana College
Dr. Burton, who taught palaeontology at Augustana and held regular "handcuff parties" for his advanced students.  We became "friends with benefits," though I didn't interpret it that way at the time.  23 years.

 Indiana University

During my first year at Indiana University, I visited a Metropolitan Community Church in Kentucky, and afterwards went out with the minister, Brother Reid, and his boyfriend Terence.  While spending the night in the guest room, I wanted to hook up with Terence, but got Brother Reid instead. About 25 years.

One night at Bullwinkle's I was offered a drink by a distinguished older man who turned out to be rather wealthy.  He took me back to his house, where we sat in a gold-and-white drawing room next to a grand piano, and he called his lover to brag about his luck in picking me up.  He said "At this stage of the game, we're mostly business partners anyway."  34 years.

Also at Bullwinkle's, I met a Nigerian guy who had hundreds of books on witchcraft and a tattooed penis.  About 20 years.

And a professor of political science from Egypt who said "You got what you wanted, now give me what I want."   About 25 years.

My most embarrassing hookup, a guy I picked up in a bar who thought I was a hustler.  About 20 years

West Hollywood

In 1987, when Alan moved to Thailand, I moved in with Derek, a former fitness model turned realtor.  We were housemates for a long time, and occasionally shared boyfriends.  21 years.

Meanwhile my on-off boyfriend Raul moved in with Heinz, a crazy German senior citizen who was into drag queens, watched the Miss America pageant,  and sang "Come away wiz me tu Malibuu" all the time.  Really annoying.  So why did we hook up? It was late, I was tired, Raul offered.  35 years

Jasper was a preacher at a Baptist church in Gardena, not out to his congregation ("but I'm working on it"). He believed that the Bible prohibited anal sex, but not oral, so we were free to engage in all the oral we wanted. One date was enough. About 20 years.

Oscar, the retired set designer from Des Moines who claimed to be the ex-lover of President Ronald Reagan.  He came to visit me in West Hollywood.  I tried every way I could think of to get rid of him, including offering to help him reconnect with his old lover, Ronnie.  46 years!

After I started dating Lee, he introduced me to a whole coterie of older guys, including Randall, who lived in Long Beach and had pierced nipples and a pierced penis.  23 years.

San Francisco

Karol, the Polish artist who had been living on Castro Street since the 1960s, who cruised my friend David every day and finally "whipped it out."  OK, he was David's hookup, but still memorable.  31 years.

New York

Kalle, the Swedish bodybuilder with the face like a serial killer that Yuri met in a bath house in Estonia and insisted we share.  About 20 years.

At a bath house in Montreal, I met James, an older guy with a nondescript physique who invited me to share his friend -- a muscle god.  Why was he acting as a wing man?   About 30 years.

Ravi, an older South Asian guy had a house in Brooklyn and held M4M Parties.  His partner was much younger and didn't do anything with anyone.  The parties ended when the partner died.  About 20 years.

Barney, an ex-bodybuilder who ran a gym.  My housemate for four years.  We sometimes shared.  19 years.

Gerry, the Georgia boy who had come out 2 years ago at age 65.  Once his hookup lived too far away to meet, so he asked to meet halfway, at my house.  I agreed, but only if I got to "share."  25 years.

The Satyr, one of the Gang of Twelve who had known each other forever and dated each other on and off.  He was a name-dropper: he had dated John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Quentin Crisp, and everyone in between.  He had an enormous Kovbasa+ and used it to his advantage.  16 years.

When Yuri visited me recently, I figured that he was still into older guys, and tried to fix him up with Mike, a retired professor of education.  15 years.

My Last Daddy (to date), who comes to the M4M Parties. Upper 70s, built, body by Michelangelo.  I hope that I will look that good in 25 years, at age 79!
