Movember means business! We have watched it’s movement, with the mission to Change the Face of Men’s Health, grow over the years and pleased to see the worlds response. What is even more encouraging is seeing men from all walks of life, gay/straight/bi/ you name it, come together for one single cause, men’s health.

As an official global charity, Movember’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches on men’s faces around the world. Through the power of the Mo, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

We were elated to find  San Francisco’s Team Stachekrieg, a home town team,  to follow their journey through the hairy hills, lip rug, cooke duster, flavor savor, soup strainer, dude/chic magnet, mustache growing journey. These guys are rebels with a cause.

Ladies and gentlemen meet Team Stachekrieg:

On Friday, November 1, a group of facial hair veterans will come together to go bare for men’s health. The team, known as Stachekrieg, will meet at Joe’s Barbershop to say goodbye to their beloved whiskers and welcome their baby faces back into the world. Over the next 30 days, the men will carefully cultivate a moustache, and through the power of the stache, raise awareness and funds to combat prostate and testicular cancer.

Movember is the global men’s health charity that has raised more than $446 million to date. In the US, programs directed by the Movember Foundation are focused on awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, and research to achieve our vision of an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.

This is a cause that hits close to home for several of Team Stachkrieg’s members. “Everyone knows someone who has had cancer,” says team captain, Eric Munro. “I am a cancer survivor with a great life. I want other men to have that chance, too.”

Team member, Bob Vecchiarello is also touched closely by the cause. “I’m doing it for my dad, who is fighting prostate cancer,” he says. “He’s done so much for me, including giving me this handsome face which is soon to be shaved bare.”

The team is actively soliciting donations at their Movember fundraising page. Donations go directly to the Movember Foundation and are tax-deductible.

Team members are Brendan McWeeney, Chris Munro, Eric Munro, Bob Vecchiarello, Brad Straw, Brian Cosgrove, Frank Strona, Joe Gallagher, Joe Kelso, Jonathan Manzo, and Stephen Haynes.
