National treasure, Sally Field is returning to the Great White Way in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Glass Menagerie.
The production, which is slated to begin previews February 14, 2017, will also co-star Joe Mantello (The Normal Heart).
Tony Award winner Sam Gold will direct the production, which he first staged at the Toneelgroep Amsterdam in 2015 with an all-Dutch cast.
Field made her Broadway debut in The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? and The Glass Menagerie was previously staged on Broadway in 2013 with Cherry Jones and Zachary Quinto, earning rave reviews and seven Tony nominations.
“To say this is a dream come true is an understatement,” said Field in a statement. “Working with the best of the best, from Sam Gold to Joe Mantello to [producer] Scott Rudin, on one of the greatest plays ever written is beyond thrilling. Right now I can barely breathe. Hopefully that’ll pass.”
Fingers crossed this role will bring Field one step closer to the EGOT she so deserves.
